A Nepali passport has never qualified for Thai visa-on-arrival — Nepal was not on the 31-country list before the Cabinet cut it to four in May 2026, and it is not on the shortened one either. You apply online for an e-Visa before you fly, and airlines at Kathmandu check for it at boarding.
At a glance
Visa needed: Yes — e-Visa, applied for online before you fly
Length of stay: Up to 60 days on a single-entry tourist visa, extendable once by 30 days at a Thai immigration office
Where to apply: thaievisa.go.th (processed by the Royal Thai Embassy, Kathmandu)
Processing time: Typically 5–10 working days
Visa on arrival: Not available to Nepali passport holders
Fees
Published figures for the Thai tourist e-Visa fee vary widely between agency sources, so we do not quote one here. Confirm the current fee on thaievisa.go.th at the moment you apply, or ask us and we will check it for your travel dates.

Apply early around festivals
The Kathmandu queue lengthens noticeably around Dashain and Tihar and over Thai public holidays. Give yourself three weeks minimum.
